What are rage sessions?
RAGE sessions are a special type of healing modality rooted in somatic movement and voice use. Technical terms aside: this is a way that I have developed to help people get in touch with their anger, process it through their body and voice, and safely express it in community with other people.
I developed this method during my residency time at Hogfish in Portland, Maine in 2024, where I did artistic research around ancestral rage, and how this is expressed through the body, voice, and drum. RAGE Sessions were one of the results of this research, along with a performance, which you can see here.
My goal with RAGE Sessions is to destigmatize anger and help people heal in ways that talk therapy and other western modalities can’t do. The body has a lot of information, we just need to set the stage for it to share this information with us.
Who are you?
Hi, I’m Holden Madagame.
Pronounced: ma-DAA-ga-mii
I’m a queer, trans, indigenous (Anishinaabe) performer and have used my experience working in opera, musical theater, performance, and ancestral healing to create these RAGE Sessions.

After finishing my studies in classical vocal performance at the University of Michigan, I moved to Germany, where I have lived for 12 years. When I came out publicly as transgender in 2014, I set an example in the opera and classical music industry that has helped pave the way for more trans people to come after me. You can read more about my journey on my blog, YouTube, or in the Press section of my Linktr.ee.
I am a passionate advocate for collective liberation, which includes but is not limited to queer, trans, BIPOC, sex work, and disability rights.
You can see more of my performance work on my main website, and learn about my web design work here.
